Hmmmmmmmmmm ... I never thought about just keeping the database. This
would drastically reduce the effort! I'm using 0.20 which Axel built in
Oct 2006...I trust not so much has changed between then and 0.20.2 now
to make them not work properly.

I'd planned to set up all the channels to have the same numbers as NTL
to make it easier to use, but I could still do that if the rest doesn't
take so much time ... it'd just be a matter of changing all the
channels, then having a perl script munge the schedule entries and
recordings.

Temptation persists. Thanks for sharing the bit, Damian.

... And, looking at something under dpkg, it hangs for a moment; I look,
and what do you know, my big fat mouth:

    hda: dma_intr: status=0x51 { DriveReady SeekComplete Error }
    hda: dma_intr: error=0x40 { UncorrectableError }, LBAsect=487518359,
    high=29, low=979095, sector=487518359
    ide: failed opcode was: unknown
    end_request: I/O error, dev hda, sector 487518359

Fuck.

I should've known better. :)
