The powerline ethernet stuff looks good now for network. And your
project looks interesting, you should post your H/W wish list.
I'm looking to build my first dedicated media box sometime this year.
My excuse is that I'll be able to consolidate my 2 existing decoders
and my DVD/DivX player. I'm looking for a fanless low power frontend
with HDMI out. I'll connect it over powerline to the PC in my study
which should be able to decode 1080p H.264 video whenever heavy
lifting is needed . I was thinking of using videolan for streaming
ondemand content to the front end. The front end will need Freesat and
a DTV MPEG4 card (thinking ahead) - these will replace my existing
decoders and should hopefully be capable of at least doing PAL video
capture. I have so far been unable to find any suitable fanless mobo
with HDMI. JETWAY do Mini-ITX with HDMI and CPU Fans, Via have talked
about SN (S for supreme) fanless mobo's with HDMI for a while now but
I have not managed to find any.
Regards,
John (the list lurker)
