That was my initial intent, but part of what I wanted to do was set up
two disks using RAID so we won't lose everything we've recorded if a
disk overheats/siezes up. The mythbuntu 7.10 installer doesn't have
anything in place for doing RAID, and I stopped myself after wrestling
with trying to use mdadm and the rest at the command line during the
install. (e.g., the drives are hda and hdc, and no matter what I tried
it claimed hdc couldn't be modified---even by fdisk to change the
partition table---because it was in use, but I couldn't for the life of
me find any evidence of that.)

That's what pushed me to try the server-then-addmyth approach.

I realize now there's a slight chance mythbuntu's installer saw one of
the partitions was a swap partition and added it (I'm guessing anything
now). Maybe later I'll boot back up with the mythbuntu CD and see if
it's more willing now that I've already created the partitions for
software RAID and it's less obvious which is swap.

Thanks for the sympathy,
B
