[myth-ie] Mythdora 4.0 is already out-of-date ?!

Mythdora 4.0, released in May 2007, is based on Fedora Core 6, which is
no longer maintained because 7, 8, and 9 are all out. The atrpms
support for FC6 is also gone. There's talk of Mythdora 5.0, but nothing
official. And I wonder how easy it'd be to move to it if they're
ideally going to jump to FC8 or FC9?

Fedora's life cycle is something of a pain.

I did discover via

    http://www.mythdorawiki.com/wiki/index.php/MythDora:Upgrading_MythDora_4.0_for_Schedules_Direct

that I can update to the latest MythTV 20.2 by doing

    mv /etc/yum.repos.d/atrpms.repo /etc/yum.repos.d/atrpms.repo.bak
    yum remove help
    yum upgrade \*myth\*

That helps. I also found a post at

    http://www.mythpvr.com/mythtv/distribution/mythdora/4/install-1.html#comment-324

which says these steps (very similar to he ones I did with Mythbuntu)
will let TV-Out work with the PVR350, my goal:

    1) I had to add various lines to my /etc/modprobe.conf file:

    "install ivtv /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install ivtv; /sbin/modprobe
    ivtv-fb"

    and

    "options ivtv-fb osd_compat=1"

    2) I had to determine ivtv's framebuffer, in my case it was "fb0"
    Yours may vary.

    3) I had to determine the PVR-350's PCIBus, in my case it was
"PCI:0:10:0" Yours will most certainly vary.

    4) I had to add seperate Device, Screen, and Monitor Sections in my
/etc/X11/xorg.conf file using the previous values I found for my
PVR-350. I would post an example, but it is rather big for a comment
section. There are examples on wiki.

After that, it booted Mythdora on my TV and MythTV has worked
    wonderfully.

Its FAQ at

    http://g-ding.tv/?q=faq

includes

*Q. I'm using the TV-Out on my PVR-350 and I can't get it to work?*
    A. In the /storage/misc/extras directory are some xorg.conf files
that may work for you. These just append to your existing xorg.conf
file. Search for posts on TV-Out for 350 for a better understanding.

That, coupled with the xorg.conf I've been using up til now, is
certainly encouraging.

I'll have to accept 720x576 probably if I don't find the video card
support to work well.
