[WM] Backslashes in URLs

It's me again.
I had mysterious problems with my site not working with older versions of Netscape recently and discovered it was because some of my image URLs had backslashes in them. Most browsers sort this out internally but old Netscapes don't.
In the end I tracked it down to:
<media src="file:media" name=".../*.jpg" listname="jpgfiles" map="false" />
resulting in URLs like:
"media\Z/full/xx-yy_w.jpg" for $(Z/full/xx-yy_w.jpg)
I've had a look at the Webmake source but can't work out exactly where the backslash is coming from. I put in a nasty temporary fix that just does a s/// to change \s to /s.
I'm running ActiveState Perl on Win98SE.
Any ideas?
Kevin.
