That could be because of odd formatting produced by the version of
pod2html on your system...  what version of perl are you using?

The other test failures though, I'm mystified about.  Do they go away
when you "make install", as someone suggested?

(BTW normally, a lot of tests will fail unless you "make install"
Text::EtText beforehand.  A lot of the tests use EtText. that may
be the source of that suggestion IMO...)
