[WM] Title metadata overruled by headings in text

Hi,
I have created a page with headings in the pages.
The page format was set to text/html.

The title metadata was replaced with the contents of the first sub-hading.
So I says to my self, "Self, it's the HTML, put it into ET format and 
all will be well and I will get around this bug."

So, I converted the page to ET format, putting "======" on the line 
following each subtitle so it would be rendered in <h2>.

And the unfortunate result is that the page's title metadata was 
overwritten again.

How do I tell it to stop this irritating and unexpected behavior?
It seems to be a feature aimed at people who don't put metadata in, but 
why doesn't the existence of "title" metadata turn it off?
